A Day in the Life of a Welder at LWIW

**6:50 AM - Start of the Day**

The day kicks off bright and early for our welders! Arriving at the fabrication shop, the first task is to gear up with safety equipment: a helmet, gloves, protective clothing, and steel-toed boots. Safety is paramount in this line of work.

**7:05 AM - Morning Huddle**

A quick team meeting sets the tone for the day. The foreman outlines the projects, assigns tasks, and discusses safety concerns.

**7:15 AM - Getting Everything Ready**

The materials need to be prepared before any welding can begin. This involves having the correct drawings, verifying with your fitter to ensure you are working on the right job, and setting up the welding equipment. Precision is critical to ensuring everything fits perfectly.

**7:30 AM - Let the Welding Begin!**

With everything set up, the welding starts. The shop is filled with the bright light of the welding arc and the sound of sizzling metal. Each weld must be solid and clean, requiring a steady hand and keen eye.

**9:00 AM – 9:10 AM - Quick Quality Checks & Break**

After a few hours of welding, it’s time to inspect the work. Quality checks are crucial to ensure the welds are robust and meet the required standards. Any imperfections are noted and corrected immediately.

**Noon - Lunch Break**

A well-deserved break to refuel. Welders often bring their lunch and enjoy a bit of downtime with colleagues. It’s a chance to relax and recharge before the afternoon shift.

**12:30 PM - Back to Work**

The afternoon is spent continuing the welding work. This might involve working on different parts of the project or tackling new tasks as they arise. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as priorities can shift quickly.

**2:30 PM - Final Inspections**

As the day winds down, final inspections are carried out. The foreman checks the completed work, ensuring everything meets the specifications. Any last-minute adjustments are made to ensure the highest quality.

**3:00 PM - Clean-Up Time**

The last half hour of the day is spent cleaning the work area. Tools are put away, the shop is tidied, and equipment is checked and maintained for the next day. Welders take pride in their workspace, keeping it organized and safe.

With the day’s work complete, welders head home, ready to relax and recharge for another exciting day in the fabrication shop. It’s a demanding job, but the satisfaction of creating something tangible essentially makes it all worthwhile.

I hope this gives you a good glimpse into the daily life of welders at our fabrication shop!
